A big thank you to all those who helped to put the decorations up on Monday, a job well done and greatly commented on already.
Well done to all those ladies who turned out today in arctic conditions to play in the End of Season Alliance. Won by Lesly Avent, Sue Agapiou and Louise Fickling with 64 points, runners up with 62 points were Billie Newland, Alison Towndrow and Gunn Robbins and third with 61 points were Ros Margey, Lisa Martin and Sharon Saunders; well done. The meal after was well supported with 33 of us sitting down and enjoying a social get together before the Christmas festivities start. Pauline very kindly treated us all to a drink from her winnings in the summer Thursday draw.
We had a fantastic turn out for the Christmas Fayre, 183 people through the door. The turkey/meat voucher on the raffle was won by Peter Beton, there were many other lucky winners; far too many to mention thanks to all our lovely donations. We made a whopping £2165, £500 of which will be donated to my charity, Alzheimer's UK, leaving £1665 for the ladies section. A big thank you to all those who helped by donating, baking and/or taking part on the day. A very special thank you to Lucy Bidmead who did most of the behind the scenes organisation of the day and without who's help it would not have been anywhere near as successful.
If you haven't already signed up for one of the Christmas parties please do so asap! There are still places for both the formal party on the Dec 9th and the informal on the 16th.
Don't forget we have the sign-up sheet for the Ladies Christmas party on Thursday Dec 14th in the changing room for ALL lady members of BHP to sign up, so please do this asap to give us a good indication of numbers.
The Turkey trot is to be held on Sunday Dec 17th and the Texas Scramble on Wednesday Dec 20th, both of which are to be mixed competitions. These will each be a soft draw, similar to the Beaujolais day. Those who wish to enter will need to put their names down via the PSI or you can use our new app, club V1 members, and the draws will take place a day or so before each competition and sent out via email to those who have entered.
Mia has had her operation and all has gone well and she is now at home. I spoke to her on the phone and she sounds chirpy and I hope to visit her later this week if she is feeling up to visitors.
We now have details of Vera Gellatly's funeral. It will be at The Church in the Orchard, at 12:30 on Tuesday December 12th and afterwards at Bush Hill Park Golf Club.
