Lady Captain's Welcome
Jenny Pomphrey, Lady Captain 2016/2017
The opportunity came up and I decided to become lady captain once again, as during my term of office in 2004 I slipped on the 17th slope, spent two weeks in hospital, three months in a wheelchair, one year in physio and started playing golf in my last month of office. I could not really enjoy my year with no golf or dancing!!!
It is a daunting task being Lady Captain, but I am up for the challenge this time around!
At Bush Hill Park we have a friendly and enthusiastic Ladies’ section enjoying weekly competitions followed by a social get-together. Our main competition day is Wednesday and we have a reserved tee time up until 11.00 a.m. In addition we hold weekly Sunday competitions for our working ladies.
We enter teams in the Pearson Trophy, Middlesex 5-a-side and the Foursomes as well as the Mail on Sunday and Daily Mail Foursomes, with a few successes along the way.
The Middlesex County Captain and Middlesex Handicap Advisor are both members of our Club and we benefit greatly from their knowledge and experience. We are also very proud to have a Lady President of the Club in 2016/2017.
All our Ladies are very supportive of anyone who has not played golf before and feel they would like to give it a try. Daniel Fickling assists us in our Golf Academy where everyone is welcome, this is followed by a rules and etiquette session and a social get-together. It is hoped that the Academy will whet your appetite to join us and improve your golfing skills whilst enjoying all the benefits of a beautiful clubhouse and active social calendar.
