Lady Captain's Announcements

Jenny Pomphrey

Announcements 22nd September 2017

Me again, I’m getting used to this and might take it up a bit more often in a couple of weeks!!!

Not much except to remind you of a few upcoming competitions:
This Sunday Sept 24th is the Grace Lawrence (Business Ladies) Cup. This is for those ladies that work i.e. is in regular paid employment. It is singles stableford competition and you sign up on the BRS over the internet as usual.
Next Sunday Oct 1st is the Iris Sumner Trophy. This is a four Ball Better Ball competition, so you and a partner play with another pair and the best score from each pair is the score that is recorded on the card. Not that for this competition you must play off 90% of your handicap and as with all cup competitions the maximum handicap is 36.

Wednesday Oct 4th is my drive in and you sign up as usual online through the BRS in groups of 3 and the competition will be a team competition with the best 2 to count on each hole. However I have since realised that we need a semi-shotgun start in order to be in together for a light lunch, soup and a roll, on me and the prize-giving. So I will look at who has booked in and send out emails with the starting tees and times; sorry ladies but we will tee off from 8:15am in order to get everyone round before a large society.

Sunday Oct 8th is the Captain’s driver. This is a 4 Ball Better Ball competition open to pairs of ladies, men or mixed. Arrange your pair or four if you want to choose who you play with and then book them in on the PSI system in the pro-shop or the George Low.

Finally we’re a bit late with the Foursomes Salver but we now have it set up on the PSI system in the pro-shop or the George Low, so this is now open for you to put your names in and we will make the draw next week. This is a knockout competition played throughout the winter, so similar to today only instead of being stableford it is match-play. When we do the draw, in order to make the pairs fairly evenly matched, we choose one high and one low handicap in each pair.

Also I would like to send my best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mia, Helen and Kate who are all suffering with various degrees of back problems.

Happy Golfing
