Women's Captain Announcement's 1st September 2022
This week our competition was a stableford for the President’s Prize and what a lovely day we all had. A very big thank you to Martyn, our Club President, who very kindly saw the ladies off the first tee starting at 8 am and then met us at the hut on 13th with coffee and cake ably assisted by his lovely wife Mary. Martin had even made some super banana and walnut loaf himself which was delicious. There was also a very welcome glass of wine after our round - cheers Martyn (he obviously knows the women’s section well).
There were some fabulous scores yesterday with the second division winner Hazel Goodyear coming in with 40 points, 2nd place Angela Balnave with 39 points and Hattie Campbell 37 points. The first division winner was Avril Green with 40 points, 2nd place Nikki Chodurek with 39 points and Cela Selley 38 points. Nearest the pins went to Lucy Bidmead on 16th and Amanda Lawson on 13th. All very worthy winners. Again, a very big thank you to Martyn for a lovely day. A special mention to Umar Annaradnam who got a magnificent eagle on 14th.
This weekend Hazel and Mary are taking part in the Ping 4BBB final and we wish them all the best. After their magnificent score of 52 points in our local round who knows ……
Next Wednesday will be another stableford competition, with the Autumn Cup the following Wednesday. Sign up is now open on iG. For those working women (women in paid employment) there is the Grace Lawrence trophy this coming Sunday so please do sign up if you are eligible.
Mark has asked me to plug the Lambert Trophy which takes place on Sunday 18 September and is a mixed event followed by a meal. If you don’t have a partner but would like to play then please contact Mark Stevens or Janet Connor who will help find a partner for you.
