Women's Captain Announcement's 26th January 2023

Oh dear another disappointing Wednesday as far as golf is concerned with the weather continuing really cold and the course rock hard. I, did, however, manage to play about seven and a half holes (the half being the 18th) before the cold was just too much for myself and my playing partners. It was, however, great to be out wielding those funny sticks although the ball was bouncing all over the place due to the frozen ground. The new signage is now up on the course and I have to say looks very smart indeed and I love the ball cleaners with the BHP logo; very professional looking indeed.

Once we do get some better weather we can start to ‘titivate’ the flower beds which look a bit sad at this time of year and I wonder if there are any volunteers to take on the flower bed just outside the mens/women’s locker rooms as Wendy has decided that after many years of maintaining it that she would like to hang up her gardening fork and secateurs. If so, please let me know.

You will all have received an email about our competitions and trophies for this season and the fact that we have restricted the playing handicap on some of them. This is actually in line with Middlesex and other local clubs and as a committee it was a unanimous decision and one we felt
was fair, but if anyone has any comments then please do drop me an email. Comments are always welcome.

Just a reminder that our next swindle for the current WDF year 2’s, who are soon to ‘graduate’ is on 12 February so please sign up if you are able to play. Sign up is on IG as usual. This will be their penultimate one before hopefully joining the club in April and before our captain’s vs vice captain’s match which they are invited to join in so it would be good to have as many members as possible.

Over the next few weeks we have stableford competitions and some matchplay before our first official competition, the Flag, on 8 March which normally starts our golfing calendar. Roll on spring!

Happy golfing.
Tracey
