Captain's Announcement's 14th July 2021
On a warm but slightly grey summers weekend, this past Saturday & Sunday was the July Stableford.
With the course in pristine condition, the scoring was once again exceptional.
We had 101 entrants, of those, 37 players surpassed or equalled their handicap.
“I wonder what rough percentage that is? “ In Division 2, 3 players had superb scores of 43 points, all separated by count back.
And the Winner with a fantastic 26 points on the back 9, was my good friend & playing partner, Andrew Corden. Well done Andy, it was great to see it first hand.

1st Place Andrew Corden 43 points.
2nd Place Kyley Bland 43 points.
3rd Place Brian McDermott 43 points.

In Division 1 there was also a 3 way tie of 42 points separated by count back.
Young Jack Bidmead was up near the top once again, as was his fellow 1st team golfer Sean Daniels, but it was a far less skilled hacker, that finds himself at the top of Division 1 this week.

2nd Place Jack Bidmead 42 points.
3rd Place Sean Daniels 42 points.
A special mention to Jack Bidmead, who is spending every waking hour at the Club, working relentlessly to improve his golf & has now got his Handicap index down to 8.1.
Congratulations Jack, keep it going. He is becoming unbeatable!
On Sunday our Head Pro Danny Hill & I had another Captain/Pro Challenge.
This time it was against the very experienced pairing of John Bottoms & Jack Naughton.
Danny & I got off to a fabulous start & were 4 up after 9. Jack then proceeded to win the next 3 holes, with John halving many more. Danny & I held on to win the match 2 up.
Thank you John & Jack, it was a very enjoyable mornings Golf.
This coming Saturday 17th July is the 1st round of the Men’s Handicap Club Championship.
Please make sure you sign up to enter the competition using the IG website or App.
It was great to see Andy Garrad role in a putt for a 2 on Saturday on the 13th. “ Are you in the 2s Andy?” I enquired. The response, ”Erm actually, I don’t think I remembered to enter the competition at all today.” Ouch !
On Saturday 24th July as well as the 2nd round of the Men’s Handicap Club Championship, we have the Men’s Club Championship. Played off scratch, over 36 holes in 1 day. If you wish to enter this, please sign into the competition on the IG website or App ASAP. This is so that any unused tee times can be re allocated to the Handicap competition.
This coming Sunday afternoon is the Men’s invite to Women.
