Hello everyone,
Well, the weather certainly changed this week. What a scorcher!
Thank you to all the lovely men who kindly invited us to play in the traditional invitation on Sunday. It was a great day, with wonderful Pimms and goodies at the hut. Thank you Ted, on behalf of all the women who played. A most enjoyable day, if a little too hot. ( better than too wet)
We just about recovered in time for another hot day on Wednesday for the Bushguarders Cup. Congratulations to Tracey who was the winner with fantastic 40 points, she didn’t put a foot wrong and putted like a pro. Well done, Sue Evans on being runner up with 35 points.
Good luck to Sarah Rees and Tracey this Friday when they travel to St Ives ( Cambridge) to play in the regional round of the Coronation Foursomes. Third time lucky!
The 5 a side team take on Muswell Hill at BHP this Sunday, so good luck to the team I suspect the greens will be very slick again if the new “ironing” gadget has been employed again for the men's championship on Saturday. Watch out.
Good luck to Jess and Saskia both travelling up to Morecombe to play in the English Girls Open Championship.
On Sunday afternoon many of us will have an opportunity to remember Maureen Coates when we attend the celebration of her life with her friends and family. Maureen will always be very fondly remembered by a large portion of our section who were lucky enough to have spent time with her. She bravely battled with cancer for over 20 years, never complaining and enjoying her life to the full.
Next Wednesday 28th is my Captain`s Day. All past and present full playing members are invited to join me for lunch. Please sign up in the locker room if you would like to join me for a Thai style buffet. I have requested that not everything is spicy, but if you would prefer to have a drink instead, please indicate this on the sheet. I look forward to the day.
Alison is kindly organising my Charity Day on the 4th August. I shan’t be playing , but will be found near the 13th. Can we please ask that each player brings in a small prize, preferably wrapped and leaves it in the locker room before the 4th.We will also need 5 bakers please to bake a cake for the hut. Please remember with Charity Day to bring some change with you onto the course as I shall be rattling my tin. It`s all for a very worthy cause, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
Keep cool and happy golfing,
Lesley
