I had the pleasure of attending the Burns night on Saturday which was a most enjoyable evening indeed. Mark and I were piped in to the room by a marvellous Scottish piper (well he was wearing a kilt) and I have to say that if I was being attacked by the Scots with bagpipes I would certainly
have run for the hills. The noise when you are near is quite deafening indeed. The meal was held downstairs due to the restaurant renovations and was really excellent.

Oh dear another disappointing Wednesday as far as golf is concerned with the weather continuing really cold and the course rock hard. I, did, however, manage to play about seven and a half holes (the half being the 18th) before the cold was just too much for myself and my playing
partners. It was, however, great to be out wielding those funny sticks although the ball was bouncing

It was icicles yesterday and only a brave handful wrapped up against the cold to brave the artic conditions. I understand that several balls were last seen bouncing off the hard ground into the unknown and balls were bouncing off the lake on to the 13th green. Next week looks promising though for us all to get back on the course and if you haven’t signed up for the Alliance then please do so pretty quickly. This is a draw, but we will be going out mostly in handicap order so do please check on IG for your tee time and playing partners. An Alliance is all scores to count on a par 3, two on a par 4 and one on a par 5, and remember to pick up when you cannot score for your team.

Well 2023 so far hasn’t been very kind as far as the weather goes for us. I can’t remember when I last picked up my clubs and one of my new year’s resolutions was to actually practice a bit more! Note to self that I must make more of an effort to go up the driving range otherwise it’s going to be a very nasty shock when we can get back out there which I do hope will be soon.
