Women's Captain Announcement's 30th September 2021

Firstly, I’d like to thank you for all the cards and kind wishes I’ve received. It’s been a busy first week as Women’s Captain starting with the Club AGM on Thursday, followed by Ted and Jack’s Drive In and lunch on Sunday. This turned out to be a warm, sunny day where we were able to have drinks on the terrace followed by a lovely meal in the restaurant. Next, on Monday, was the Women’s Section AGM and on Wednesday, the one I’d been dreading…….my Drive In.

Unfortunately, the first ball Danny provided turned out to be a dud and barely left the tee lol, but, luckily, he had another "(good one)" in his pocket and it all turned out okay in the end. The winner of the ‘Guess the Drive’ prize was Davina with her guess of 130 yards, right. The remainder of the money collected, just over £400, went to The Alzheimer’s Society charity. Thanks to all for donating in this way and to Tracey for getting the sheet circulated so widely. I must mention Davina again as, for the past two weeks, she has provided us with the most beautiful flower arrangements for the locker room. The late summer colours are really stunning. Thank you, Davina.

Before the Drive In we played a stableford comp where the winners were Dawn Rose in Division 1 and Edwina Hicks in Division 2. The Nearest the Pin for Division 2 was won by Pam Brookman but, unfortunately, nobody in Division 1 managed to get onto the 15th green. All the prizes were purchased from the Pro Shop and Danny will happily exchange any item. The Bridge players also ran a competition which was won by Del. Well done to you all!

As well as the weather being fine, so was the food with a varied selection of delicious cakes in the hut; thank you so much to all the bakers. Then, following the Drive In, Roy provided us with a very good vegetable lasagne.

Next Wednesday is the Harvest Festival stableford. Please bring in non perishable food items which I will deliver to the Enfield Foodbank. The items which are always needed are long life milk, pasta, cereals and canned food.

If you have qualified for the Final Medal, these need to be played on Sunday 3rd or Monday 4th October. The list of qualifiers is in the locker room. Also in the locker room are the Final Stableford qualifiers, the Pearson sign up sheet and my playing list. Please sign up to play with me; the comps with asterisks need one partner and the rest need two.

Now that the Covid restrictions have been lifted and we are back swapping cards, please hand your card in to the Pro Shop once you have entered your score on IG.

Finally, Chris Robertson lost a silver watch today. If anybody finds it, please let her know.

I hope to see you all next week.

Sarah
