Women's Captain Announcement's 12th January 2023

Well 2023 so far hasn’t been very kind as far as the weather goes for us. I can’t remember when I last picked up my clubs and one of my new year’s resolutions was to actually practice a bit more! Note to self that I must make more of an effort to go up the driving range otherwise it’s going to be a very nasty shock when we can get back out there which I do hope will be soon.

A couple of reminders please that you must put your name on the timesheet when playing and not just turn up to play with some of your friends. This is important mostly from a health and safety point of view but also so other players can see who is playing and whether they want to play
behind a four ball or two ball for example. Also we are only permitted two practice balls on the course at any time and if you are playing with two balls to ensure that you do not hold up anyone who is behind you. The pro shop has also asked me to remind everyone that they should be
checking in there before playing, again for health and safety but also so they can gage pace of play etc. I know that pace of play is something that crops up quite a lot at the moment and I am hoping to get some information/guidance from one of our county referees regarding this, i.e.
where you should be on the course after so long for a 2 ball, 3 ball and 4 ball which will be interesting. Obviously it is not an exact science and conditions etc need to be taken into consideration.

Thank you to everyone for booking in for the away day and overnighter which is filling up quickly. It does look like we may not have enough single rooms so if anyone is willing to share, please do let me know. I will contact Stoke by Nayland and see if they can rustle up some more for us though in the meantime.

For those new to the section I wanted to let you know that we have a comments/ideas book in the locker room (on the left hand shelf when you first go in) whereby you can jot down anything you think we should do, not doing well or could improve on and we always welcome comments. We hold committee meetings approximately every six weeks and these would be discussed then so please do write in, anonymously if you wish.

Next week, weather permitting, is a stableford and the following week will be an alliance which will be a draw for partners and the draw will be done a few days beforehand so please sign up for this asap.

Let’s hope for some golf soon!
Tracey
