Women's Captain's Announcement

I finally got to try out my new Christmas waterproofs today as it’s been too wet on other Wednesdays (!) and I’m pleased to say they were very much up to the challenge. It was matchplay practice this week and I hope that anyone who hasn’t played much matchplay in the past found it useful and informative. I had a lovely round with Helen G and when we both put the ball in the water on the 13th it was an easy decision to half the hole and have coffee! We had a great time with a win to Helen on the 18th.

Next week is a qualifying stableford, followed by the flag which is one of our ‘unique’ competitions. Please remember that most of the competitions can be held on the previous Sunday and all you need to do is email Lisa Martin about a week in advance to let her know that you wish to do your comp on the Sunday. This is particularly worth remembering if you don’t have enough qualifying cards to enter the knockouts - which are now open. Entry to the knockouts are via IG and entry requirements are also on IG to avoid any confusion. If, however, you have any questions regarding these then please contact myself, Lucy Bidmead or any member of the committee who will be able to guide you through the process.

The mixed season will be starting shortly too and the first competition is the Brasted Trophy on Sunday 12 March. If you don’t have a partner, please don’t worry as Mark and Janet will be able to find you one; you just need to contact them. This competition is a foursomes stableford with each player taking alternate shots and alternate tee shots. Although the handicap limit for the women is an index of 36.6 this does not preclude anyone playing just that you are unable to win the Trophy which is a board competition. Play, I believe, will be a shotgun start with a meal afterwards in the main bar so do please sign up.

Another date to put in your diaries please is Friday 24 March when we will have our annual Captain vs Vice-Captain challenge which is over 13 holes and followed by lunch. Sign up will be on IG with teams allocated nearer the time. Also the friendly matches and Pearson sign-up sheets are on the notice boards. Please remember to check the boards as there is information and rules on there which should be of interest to all.

Just to let you know that I heard from Dawn this week. She has now joined a club down in Sandwich called Walmer and Kingstown Golf Club after having a successful playing in round with the women’s captain! She is settling in well and busy on another project in Sandwich which will be her new home once completed.

Happy golfing

Tracey
