Women's Captain Announcement's 31st May 2023

The big news this week is that our Pearson team has reached the semi finals which is to be played on Wednesday 21 June at Sudbury. I’m told that BHP hasn’t reached a Pearson semi/final since 1986. For those who are new to our section, the Pearson Trophy is a competition run by Middlesex, and a few other counties, against other clubs in the county. The team consists of 7 players with handicaps ranging from 12.5 to 34.3 (HCI) and is played off full playing handicap difference (matchplay) with both home and away games. BHP have played Pinner Hill, Ealing and Northwood this year and have drawn our local team Muswell Hill in the semi finals with the final being played on the same day. In the other half of the draw is North Middlesex and Highgate, so there’s obviously some very good golf in North London! For the semi final/final we are allowed to take 9 players and I believe caddies and I shall put some details on the board for volunteers to  caddy and come along and watch shortly. I realise this is a Wednesday and according to the diary this is scheduled to be the Captain’s Day for Women but Mark has kindly agreed to postpone this now until Wednesday 30 August, so please make a note of this.

Now back to this week’s pro’s prize and the winners in the first division were Lucy Bidmead, 35 points with Alison Towndrow, 34 points coming in second. In the second division Amanda Lawson was the winner with an amazing 41 points with Sue Palmer second with 38 points. Well done to all and hopefully Danny will be able to present the prizes next week at our Centenary Salver lunch. For those who haven’t signed up for the lunch yet the list is on the noticeboard and I will be giving numbers to Roy on Monday.

Happy golfing.
Tracey
