Women's Captain Announcement's 7th June 2023
What an amazing Centenary Salver we had today. We started with jumpers and gilets, and some players in woolly hats, and ended with us sitting on the terrace under sun umbrellas enjoying the new terrace furniture. Many thanks to Roy and his team for a lovely lunch which was followed by prize giving which quite frankly you really couldn’t have made up. Our winner today with a nett 68 was Pauline, who was the inaugural winner and also a winner in our centenary year of 2020. As our most senior playing member it was truly amazing and I think everyone was truly delighted and most remarkably Pauline was actually speechless, for a while! Congratulations to Carol Agass who came second with a nett 69. We also combined the centenary salver with the June Medal. Division one winner was Cela Selley with nett 72, with Avril Green second with a nett 73. Second division winner was Pauline with Carol in second place. Well done to everyone and many thanks to those who made the delicious cakes today.
Good luck to Sue Nugent and Kathy Kerr who are playing the Australian Spoons Regional Final on Wednesday 14 June at The Drift Golf Club in Surrey. This weekend is the first round of the Luther Smith to be held at Bush Hill so good luck to all playing in this two round competition, particularly for those who are new to the competition.
Next week we have the grandmother’s and senior grandmother’s cup. For those playing in the senior competition you will also need to sign up for the grandmother’s cup but I’m sure Lisa will be emailing instructions beforehand.
Just a reminder that the Pearson semi final and final will be held at Sudbury on Wednesday 21 June so we will not be holding the Captain’s Day for Women that day. This is now postponed until Wednesday 30 August. For those who are coming along to Sudbury I will be posting details in the locker room next week but essentially our first tee time is 8.08.
