A busy weekend for the Club, kicked off on Friday with the Prize Presentation Evening. The event was very well attended, and a great atmosphere ensued. Special congratulations go out to Kieran Costello and Cela Selley, who won the John Shaw Trophy's for the men and women respectively.
Despite heavy rain on Friday night and Saturday morning, the course remained open and 12 brave souls defied the weather on Saturday and completed their rounds in Winter League 4. Ed Sobers came in with an impressive 40 points, followed by Dean Luck in second with 38 points.
On Saturday evening, following the Fireworks at Enfield Town Park, food, and drinks at the Clubhouse, again proved to be extremely popular with over 130 people in attendance. Big thanks to Debbie and all her staff for once again stepping up to the plate over the whole weekend.
On Sunday Morning, the November Four Ball Draw was held, and this again was well attended by 25 players. The sun shone and despite soggy conditions, the course held up well and tasty lunchtime bar snacks provided by Roy, rounded off a very pleasant morning. Simon Lanario and Des Denning carded a remarkable 46 points and received a complimentary 4 Ball at East Herts GC for their efforts. Next months’ December Four Ball Draw (The Turkey Trot) will include complimentary pre-golf mince pies as well as the chance to play for a complimentary Four Ball at Batchworth Park.
Finally, just a quick reminder about this year’s Captain Pro Challenge. The pair with the best winning margin against Danny and myself throughout the whole year, will win a day out for a re-match at Thorndon Park Golf Club next September. The challenge is open to men, women, or mixed pairs with a current Club Handicap, and will cost £5 per person plus a minimum £5 contribution to The Captain’s Charity, Isabel Hospice. Pairs will be able to play and try the challenge more than once throughout the year, should they wish to do so. Danny has the November diary of dates that we are available to play, so all you need to do is pop into the Pro Shop and book.
Have a good week.
