What a rollercoaster week of weather. One minute sunshine, the next minute rain and hail. Thankfully on Wednesday the sun was out as we played the Veterans’ Cup for the over 65s and Alternative Stableford for the younger members of the section.

The Vets Cup winner was Uma Annaradnam with 35 points and Una Kilgallon was runner-up with 30. Back on winning form to clinch the Alternative Stableford was Sue Nugent with 36 points and hot on her heels with 35 was Louise Fickling. Well done everyone.

We are holding our first Women’s Academy roll-up on Thursday, which is open to all Year 2 Academy members. This week we have ten from the programme playing alongside members of the women’s section who are there to encourage, advise and guide them through the first five holes. A big thank you to Nikki Chodurek for her brilliant organisation.

Our Women’s Middlesex Foursomes team were meant to have played their first round match on Monday this week but due to the weather it has been rescheduled for this Friday, 19th April. Good luck to Nikki and Uma who take on Muswell Hill at Finchley.

Our 5-a-side team play their first match of the season this Sunday away to Hampstead with Alex Towndrow making her Scratch team debut. Good luck to all involved.

On Tuesday 23rd April, Middlesex are holding the Women’s Spring meeting at Bush Hill Park. There are over 50 women taking part from various clubs in the county including a few of our members. I hope the day is a roaring success. I am unable to play in this event as earlier this year I followed in my mother’s footsteps and joined the Society of London Lady Captains whose first meeting of the season is on the same day.

Next Wednesday is our April Medal and Srixon Amateur Championship Qualifier. If you win next week’s Medal you could be off to Galgorm Castle, one of Ireland’s finest parkland courses, to battle it out to become the Srixon Amateur Champion 2024.

The Captain’s Charity Day is nearly upon us, Monday 6th May, raising money for Isabel Hospice. It is open to all members and guests. If you would like to enter a team or play and haven’t got a team please contact the office as should anyone who would like to donate a raffle prize for the event. The money is going to such a good cause and your support will be greatly appreciated.

The Women’s Spring meeting is on Wednesday 8th May. This is not open to sign up on IG, please sign up on the timesheet currently in the locker room. The day consists of an 18-hole medal round in the morning with a 9-hole team event in the afternoon. This will be followed by a meal approx 5:15pm with prize giving afterwards. You need to find a partner to play with for the morning competition and a pair to play with in the afternoon. The deadline for sign up to this competition is 2pm next Wednesday 24th April.

Finally, I am holding a Second Hand Golf Sale, excluding golf club, in the clubhouse foyer on Saturday 20th April from 11am. It is a CASH ONLY sale and all proceeds will go to the Captain’s Charity. Come along and grab yourself a bargain.

Enjoy your week.
