A lot has happened since my last blog.

We had the first session of the Academy Roll-up on Thursday. It was lovely to meet some of the new Year Two’s. There is some fantastic potential, and we look forward to following your progress as the weeks go by.

Sadly, we are now out of the Middlesex Foursomes as Nikki Chodurek and Uma Annaradnam lost in their first-round match against Muswell Hill. There is always next year.

The secondhand golf sale at the weekend raised £200 for the Isabel Hospice. We have a lot of clothing left and will be holding another sale on the Women’s Charity Day in July.

The Women’s 5-a-side team played their first match on Sunday away at Hampstead. It was a tight tussle with the opposition winning 3-2. Well done to Lesley Avent and Tracey Ripsher for winning their matches and we are very proud of Alex Towndrow who enjoyed her debut in the scratch team.

On Tuesday Bush Hill Park hosted the Middlesex Women’s Spring meeting. More than 50 players took part, including some of our members. Thank you to Alison, my Vice Captain, for stepping in to help with the prize giving in my absence and who herself did very well on the day.  Well done everyone for making the event such a success. And a reminder that if you want to enter any of the Middlesex events, please visit their website middlesexgolf.co.uk.

On Wednesday, in what felt like Artic conditions, we played our first Medal of the year. Margaret Herlihy continued her fantastic form and won the competition with a net 69. I must also mention the runner-up Lesley Avent who came in with a very impressive net 70. Margaret now may have the chance play at Galgorm Castle, one of Ireland’s finest parkland courses, and battle it out to become the Srixon Amateur Champion 2024.

Next week is the Bushguarders Cup/May Stableford which is followed by the Club Charity Day on Monday 6th May and our Spring Meeting on Wednesday 8th May. I will be asking our cake makers to bake some homemade delights for the hut for both occasions.

On the charity day the Isabel Hospice will bring a van to collect donations as part of their Tonnes of Care campaign. If you’re de-cluttering or having a clear out, please consider donating any suitable items.

If you would like to make a cash donation to the Hospice, please click here to head over to the Just Giving page.

Finally, I want to mention well in advance the Women’s Invitation to Women on Wednesday 7th August. This is an opportunity to invite friends from other clubs to have a lovely day at Bush Hill, play some team golf and enjoy a lovely lunch. It is a fantastic day and I know dates get booked up so don’t leave it too late.

Have a good week and hopefully warm weather is just round the corner.
