After the deluge of rain we had on Charity Day, I’m pleased to report that the weather took a significant turn for the better for the rest of the week and things are finally starting to feel like Spring.

On Tuesday, The Rangers, under the captaincy of John Killey, played a difficult away fixture against a very strong Crews Hill Team. I am pleased to confirm that we won the match by 4 ½ to 1 ½ maintaining the unbeaten start to the season and as usual the event was a great social occasion.

On Saturday, we held the Victory Cup, a 36-hole, medal handicap event, with 24 hardy competitors taking part. Congratulations go out to Kyley Bland, who came out “Victorious” with a net, two round score of 142, just ahead of Mike Stainton, who came in second with a net 145.

Finally, just a reminder about the John Shaw Trophy, which is an ongoing competition contested throughout the summer months. Competitors can accumulate points by doing well in certain Board Competitions and knockouts as well as monthly Stablefords and Medals etc. The John Shaw is widely regarded as an indication of the Club’s best golfer throughout the summer, and you can check how you are doing and what competitions are included, by clicking here.
