Captain's Blog, 5th June 2025

This week was a great week for our club teams, the Foxes beat West Middx away at Hadley wood, and another win for the Rangers smashing Brookman’s Park, and with special mention about the polenta dessert!

On Thursday the Past Captains' Cup was contested and won by John Stolliday with 35 points, and Saturday we had the Shillingford bowl and June Medal. The Shillingford bowl was won by Martin Dunnett with a fantastic nett 62 and the overall winner of the June medal was Jack Naughton with a fantastic nett 64, well done all.

A Big Thank you to our club President Iain Lanario for running the fourball draw as myself and Sean were away, 21 players did take part and the winners with 85 points were John Bayer, Graham Evans and Ross Russo.

Don’t forget to sign up for our clubs 130-year celebration golf day on the 11th July

Two spaces have become available for my Captain's away trip to the Forest of Arden, if you missed the original sign up and would like to go, please let myself or Danny know.

And there are a few spaces left for the Captains' “White Night Summer Party”, with food and live music by the Jars.

A bit of Housekeeping, when you enter a card for handicap purposes, please try your best to make the scores or strokes as legible as possible, every effort will be made to decipher them, but they will be voided if they are too difficult to read.

Danny and I are very much looking forward to playing our Captain and Pro Challenges, which will culminate with which ever pair manages to beat us by the biggest margin, being invited to play a rematch at Royal Cromer Golf Club, please email Danny or myself and we can book you in.

As the hut is self-service on a Saturday for the time being, please leave it as you wish to find it, unfortunately it's becoming messier every week and if it can’t be kept clean, we will have to keep it closed.

As we are now underway for the season, a reminder that the 13th is the captain’s charity Hazard, if you go into the water then a donation into any of the buckets around the club house will be gratefully received, if like me that does happen a little too often! Then an idea to see you through the year could be a one-off donation via the just giving page of £10. https://www.justgiving.com/page/bhpgccc.

Happy Golfing
