Even more success for our teams with the Rangers having an incredibly convincing win against Arkley. Well done boys, keep it up!

The second and final round of the Luther Smith was played at Enfield on Saturday, and another great moment for our Club’s players with Lesley Avent carrying the form from her recent hole in one, winning the ladies trophy and Oz Hassan taking the men’s trophy with no less than seven of our members in the top team - great result for Bush Hill Park. I had the pleasure of playing with Enfield’s Club Captain again and unfortunately, he narrowly beat me over the two rounds.

Yesterday was the Women’s Captain’s Day and it really was a great fun and very hot day. Forty-one players teed off from the first and the eighth, and after watching the groups tee off the first, I set up the hut to serve the much needed drinks and doughnuts in the sweltering heat, with nearest the pin prizes on all par three’s and in two on the fourth - it was great to see seven different winners. The main competition was won by Ozlem Orgen, beating Una Kilgallon on countback with a superb 46 points, third was Shanta Balram with 41, and Louise Fickling in fourth with 40 points. The wooden spoon (aka a lesson with Danny) was gallantly won by Jane Majer. Very well done all!

I look forward to Saturdays Captain’s Day for the men.

There are still some spaces left for the second food sitting at the Captain’s White Night Summer Party, which promises to be a fun event with live music, pop up bars, and dancing till late. I look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible on the night, as well as a few ticket only without food.

The day before Captain’s Day we have the Midsummer Madness competition – June 20th, which is another great event with some very interesting holes! Followed by lunch.

And don’t forget the Club's 130th year celebrations on the July 11th. We have morning and afternoon competitions followed by food and a disco in the evening.

A bit of housekeeping; when you enter a card for handicap purposes, please try your best to make the scores or strokes as legible as possible, every effort will be made to decipher them, but they will be voided if they are too difficult to read.

Danny and I are very much looking forward to playing our Captain and pro Challenges, which will culminate with which ever pair manages to beat us by the biggest margin, being invited to play a rematch at Royal Cromer Golf Club, please email Danny or myself and we can book you in.

As the hut is self-service on a Saturday for the time being, please leave it as you wish to find it, unfortunately it’s becoming messier every week and if it can’t be kept clean, we will have to keep it closed.

As we are now underway for the season, a reminder that the 13th is the Captain’s Charity Hazard. If you go into the water then a donation into any of the buckets around the clubhouse will be gratefully received, if like me that does happen a little too often! Then an idea to see you through the year could be a one-off donation via the JustGiving Page of £10.

Happy Golfing

Guy Croton
Club Captain
