A busy weekend of golf last week with the Second round of the Handicap Club Championship and 36 holes of the Scratch club Championship - both contested in some very wet conditions.
The results as follows.
This year’s Scratch Club Champion is Ryan Millar with a very creditable gross score of 152, narrowly beating Simon Collins on 154, on what proved to be a very challenging 36 holes with some torrential downpours thrown into the mix. Ten players braved the afternoon round and you can tell from the scores just how tough it was. Please join me in congratulating Ryan, and I look forward to presenting him the trophy on prize giving night.
Ryan Miller (152)
Simon Collins (154)
Chris Davison (157)
The Handicap Club champion is still to be decided due to a handicap glitch on IG but will be announced as soon as the problem is fixed.
On Sunday, we had the Gent's Invite to Women, a very successful and most enjoyable day with 59 players taking part, superbly organised by our Vice Captains Sean and Umar. The format was greensomes, and the winners on the day were Dave Griffiths and Philippa Hawken, beating Andy Dodd and Anneka Vestey on countback with 41 points, though Andy did score a hole in one on the 1st!! congratulations Andy and thankyou for buying wine for all at the meal afterwards.
1st Dave Griffiths & Philippa Hawken (41)
2nd Andy Dodd & Anneka Vestey (41)
3rd Nigel Bidmead & Sarah Rees (39)
A bit of housekeeping; when you enter a card for handicap purposes, please try your best to make the scores or strokes as legible as possible, every effort will be made to decipher them, but they will be voided if they are too difficult to read.
Please remember to shut the gates as you navigate your way around the course either by foot or buggy, this will hopefully deter pedestrians wandering through the field of play.
Danny and I are very much looking forward to playing our Captain and pro Challenges, which will culminate with which ever pair manages to beat us by the biggest margin, being invited to play a rematch at Royal Cromer Golf Club, please email Danny or myself and we can book you in.
As we are now underway for the season, a reminder that the 13th is the Captain’s Charity Hazard. If you go into the water then a donation into any of the buckets around the clubhouse will be gratefully received, if like me that does happen a little too often! Then an idea to see you through the year could be a one-off donation via the JustGiving Page of £10.
Happy Golfing.
