Another week of success for our club teams, this time it was an excellent win for the Foxes beating Sudbury GC in the semi-final of the Abrey cup 6-3. The final will be played on the 25th September so please join me in wishing them every success for the final.

Then on Bank Holiday Monday we were blessed with glorious sunshine for the Martin Dench Texas Scramble, a great turnout on the day, with the winning team of Clare Laycock, Stuart Laycock, Sally Minks, and Liz Tolton taking the trophy with a super nett score of 47, beating me, Andrew Cordon, Iain and Simon Lanario into second place with 51. The outside was packed with people enjoying the Summer Buffett and entertainment from singer Abbey-Jayne, whilst cheering on the final of the Wilson putting vase, which was won by our past Women’s Captain Lucy Bidmead, beating Matt Hunt.
This coming Sunday is my Captains away trip to the Forest of Arden, we have had one person drop out so if you would like to join us do reach out to either Danny or myself.
Then on the 5th September we have the East Region Pro Am, we still have some spaces available for teams of three (ideally another 4 teams) and if you or your company are able to sponsor a hole please reach out to me or Danny for further details.
Then on the 6th we have our Club President Iain Lanario’s Presidents Day, sign up is open for the competition and tickets are available for the evening party, which promises to be a superb evening not to be missed.
Sunday the 7th is my final four ball draw as Club Captain, and to mark this, there will be a buffet breakfast from 8am, after which we will tee off at the slightly later time of 9.20. please sign up sooner rather than later so I have an idea of numbers to cater for.
Bit of housekeeping, please remember to remove your name from the tee sheet as soon as you know you can’t play, Saturday’s competition tee sheet must not be blocked out with people’s names who are not or were never playing. We are seeing a lot of three balls where there are four players on the sheet on a regular basis.
Please remember to shut the gates as you navigate your way around the course either by foot or buggy, this will hopefully deter pedestrians wandering through the field of play.
Danny and I are very much looking forward to playing our Captain and pro Challenges, which will culminate with which ever pair manages to beat us by the biggest margin, being invited to play a rematch at Royal Cromer Golf Club, please email Danny or myself and we can book you in.
As we are now underway for the season, a reminder that the 13th is the Captain’s Charity Hazard. If you go into the water then a donation into any of the buckets around the clubhouse will be gratefully received, if like me that does happen a little too often! Then an idea to see you through the year could be a one-off donation via the JustGiving Page of £10.
