Women's Captain's Blog, 1st October 2025

What a wonderful day it was for my Captain’s Drive-In! I feel so grateful for the support, kindness and smiles I received from so many of you.

During the round, many of you stopped at the Halfway House for some well-earned refreshments. My family loved being there to greet you - a special thank you to all the bakers - Mary, Tracey, Sue P. as well as Amalia and Maria (my daughters). I’m glad that many of you were able to grab a slice of Mary’s cake, having missed out last time!

The flowers were absolutely beautiful, and I would like to thank Davina and Sharon for arranging them so thoughtfully.

We also had a slightly anxious moment with the new course ratings coming into effect, but thanks to the calm and capable work of Ruth, Sharon, and Lucy, all the cards were sorted and the winners confirmed without a hitch. A huge well done to them.

After golf and a drink or two, it was my turn for the official drive-in. I will admit I felt a few nerves with so many of you watching but it was wonderful to share the moment with such a supportive crowd.

On a lighter note, I must confess that I drove into our usual car park, and it suddenly dawned on me that I now have my own spot on the other side. Old habits die hard, but I’ll try to embrace the perks of the role a little faster and enjoy it over the coming year.

Guess the Drive

My drive finished at 129 yards down the right-hand side, and congratulations go to Carol Dodd for guessing correctly and winning the payout. After this, a fantastic £358 was raised for our chosen charity, Noah's Ark Children's Hospice. Thank you to Sharon for organising and collecting.
