Seventy-one players entered Winter League Week 5 on Saturday, but only five managed to beat their handicaps as conditions grew tougher heading into the winter season.

The results were as follows:

Division 1
1st) Lee Robinson 39 points
2nd) Mark Kermode 38 points
3rd) Dave Boss 37 Points

Division 2
1st) David Hollins 42 points
2nd) Martin Hacker 36 Points
3rd) Ian McNally 36 points

Sunday
1st) Liam Maher 37 Points

Well played all.

I have had a number of competition players commenting in recent weeks about the slow pace of play on Saturday mornings, which now seems to have become the norm at around four hours and thirty to forty-five minutes or more. I’d like to ask every player to be aware of the time taken in their own groups and to be aware of other groups in front and behind. I’d rather not plaster the course with notices on pace of play or marshalling but four hours fifteen minutes is the timescale for a four ball, so I’d ask everyone to try and keep up or better this pace. There is the first new time clock in situ at the 13th by the hut so this will give you an indication if your group is keeping up with play, in addition to times marked on the scorecards. Please check into the Pro Shop before play - you will note there is start and end time on scorecards so, please complete both sections to help with course monitoring. There have been more drastic measures suggested but again I’d like to ask members to respect the competitors, competitions, and etiquette of the Club when playing, particularly at peak times.

Next week, Sunday 9th, is the Captain’s Four Ball Draw - 8am in the George Low bar for coffee and the draw. There is a four ball voucher up for grabs at West Middlesex that is valid until the end of this year, in addition to the usual sweep, so I hope to see many players signed in.

Another knockout winner was declared this week - Dave Boss won the Scratch Knockout competition so congratulations are due, and the Prize Presentation evening is this Friday 7th.

The Beaujolais Day competition is on 20th November so don’t forget to enter on IG. It’s a fun day - a shotgun start followed by wine and lunch.

Happy golfing till next week.
