What a lovely morning we all had on Wednesday! It was Captain’s Day for the Women and the sun was shining as Captain Ted saw off those who were teeing off the first and then went to serve us at the hut where there were homemade flapjacks, proper coffee and drinks on ice.

On Wednesday we played the Grandmother’s Cup, Senior Grandmother’s Salver and an Alternate Stableford. Sue Evans came in with 40 points to win the Grandmother’s Cup with Chris Robertson in runner up position with 38 points. The Senior Grandmother’s Salver (13 holes) was won by Billie with 27 points, runner up was Chris Robertson with 26 points.

On Thursday, at the beginning of the Jubilee celebrations, the sun shone and everybody dug deep into their pockets making Captain’s Charity Day a great success. Although the weather didn’t hold up for the whole weekend, the enjoyment at the club certainly did with the dinner and toast to the Queen on Friday and the Children’s Party on Sunday. Well done to Ruth, Lucy and Jack for keeping the children entertained, I hear they all had a great time.

Firstly, Happy Birthday, Pauline! We all hope you have a lovely day.
Tracey and I returned on Monday from the sunny, cloudless skies of Spain to the cold, pouring rain of Luton Airport and it was a bit of a shock. It was even worse on Tuesday afternoon when the heavy rain and thunder meant that four of us had to come into the bar and have a cup of tea mid match when Danny sounded the klaxon. Let’s hope the sun shines on Thursday for Captain’s Charity Day so we’re all feeling happy and generous.

Hola Amigos! Today I am sending a couple of massive congratulations from sunny Spain. Firstly, congratulations to Lisa Martin for passing the R & A Level 2 Rules Examination with distinction (90%)! Fantastic result, Lisa. So, if anybody has any rules queries, you know who to go to. Secondly, a huge congratulations to one of our WDF Year 2s, Helen Savage, on scoring a hole in one on the 13th on Monday afternoon. Well done, Helen, and so early on in your golfing career!

On Wednesday, ten brave women played two consecutive rounds to contend for the Victory Cup. The weather and course conditions were perfect and, once again, this showed in the scores. The results were 1st Sarah Rees 66 64, 2nd Lisa Martin 69 68, 3rd Umar Annaradnam 70 69.
