Rain, rain go away.
We did find a small break in the weather this week to play our Wednesday competition. It was the Golf Foundation’s ‘Make Your Mark’ Stableford. Congratulations to Roisin Margey, winner of Division One with 32 points. Nikki Chodurek was runner-up with 29 and Division Two winner Margaret Herlihy with an impressive 35 points. Angela Graham was runner-up with 33. Well done to all who ventured out in the challenging conditions.
We are hoping to play our first 5-a-side match of the season on Sunday away at Hampstead but we are unsure of their course conditions and it may be rescheduled. And the Pearson team have a match next Thursday at Finchley but, again, this may be rescheduled if the weather fails to improve.
Lisa Martin and Ruth Goulding played their first round match of the Middlesex Foursomes against Sudbury at Muswell Hill. Having gone four down after four holes they mounted a comeback but lost on the 16th. A valiant effort - well done.
We still have another team in the competition who are playing their first round match in a couple of weeks and wish them good luck.
Next week is the Australian Spoons Foursomes competition, the winners of which will go on to a regional final in June at England’s oldest golf club Royal Blackheath in Greenwich.
On Sunday 14th April we have the second mixed competition, the Spring Trophy. This is a board competition and in order to be eligible to win this competition you need to have a handicap index of 36.6 or less and you have had to have played five qualifying competitions in the last 12 months. You can still enter but if you don’t meet the criteria you will not be able to win. Sign up is open on IG. If you would like to take part, but don’t have a partner contact Mark Stevens or Janet Connor.
A second-hand golf sale is taking place at the club on Saturday 20th April from about 11am in the Clubhouse foyer. If you have any donations (excluding clubs) please contact me. It will be a cash only sale and all proceeds will go to the Captains’ charity, Isabel Hospice.
And the Captain’s Charity Day on Monday 6th May is fast approaching. It is open to all - members and guests - teams can be men, women or mixed and juniors are welcome, but have to have an adult playing with them. To sign up, click here. There will be prizes for members and guests, a raffle and an auction. There will also be a representative from Isabel Hospice to talk about the work they do and how your money will help.
HOUSEKEEPING
If you are interested in being added to our Women’s WhatsApp groups - the main BHP Women’s group and the weekend Women’s group - please contact Tracey Ripsher.
Damien and his staff are doing an amazing job in keeping the course playable in this wet weather so let's do our bit and follow the correct course restrictions and also replace divots on the fairways and pitch mark on the greens.
Let’s hope Spring IS just around the corner.
