Not many leaves on the trees now. The winds and rains of the last few days have hastened their fall. But they have been superbly cleared from most places by our wonderful Groundstaff and we just had to contend with a few muddy places in our Wednesday competition, the Winter Greensomes.

Apologies for the tardiness of this week’s blog, Storm Bert made sure I spent another day and night in Geneva, so no golf for me – however, the annual Beaujolais Day took place on Thursday, and with a score of 88, the winners of the competition were Martin Dunnett, Tracey Ripsher, Don O’Shea, and Gaye Illsley.

Unfortunately, the cutting back of the eco rough did not make an appreciable difference for many of us in Wednesday’s final Stableford of this year. But there were some good scores in, despite the early morning heavy frost, ice, frozen bunkers and rather chilly temperatures.
